St. John's Lutheran Church is a place where people can meet Jesus and engage in life-giving community. Everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts, and use them for God's glory. Join us for our Sunday services!

Welcome

What to Expect on a Sunday Morning

Sanctuary

Traditional - 8:30AM
Historic hymns and liturgies, combined with modern worship songs, enhance the timeless message of God’s love and grace. Choirs and special instrumental music, a Bosch tracker organ, Steinway grand piano, and a visually striking setting continue the rich heritage of worship at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The message is both Bible-based and relevant to your life today.

Worship Center

Contemporary - 10:00 AM
The worship team, leading todays popular worship anthems along with the praise choruses and hymns of yesterday, paired with a Biblically based and relevant teaching present the timeless message of God’s love and grace in a timely fashion. The Worship Center provides a comfortable and casual environment to worship God and grow as His children. We hope to see you on Sunday.

For Kids

Sunday School 8:30 & 10:00 AM
On Sunday mornings, we offer nursery care for infants and toddlers as well as Sunday School for children age 3 through grade 6.  Visit our Kidz Ministry team near the nursery for check-in and additional guidance.
At St. John's we don't have a dress code for worship.  Some wear suits and dresses while others choose to worship in Jeans.
The clothes aren't the important thing. We hope all feel welcome to come as you are and worship with us!

We are located at 4500 Buena Vista Rd. Bakersfield CA, 93311

Our location at Buena Vista has two primary parking lots and four buildings that are used every Sunday. Look for the building with the Cross and Crown: you’ll find cheerful people, donuts, and coffee. This area is the location of the Worship Center, Sanctuary, and Event Center. The Kidz Ministry Building is located behind the Sanctuary on the school campus.
